Escambia County Enacts Full Ban on Large-Scale Data Centers

On August 6, 2026, the Escambia County Commission enacted Ordinance 2026-30, expressly banning large-scale data centers within the unincorporated area of Escambia County. The ordinance was filed with the Florida Department of State and became effective August 10, 2026. This makes Escambia County the first county in Florida to adopt a full prohibition on hyperscale and large-scale data centers.
